Scouts - Youth Shaped


At Scouts, young people learn how to speak up and take the lead.
That’s what the new YouShape Award is all about.

Central badge

This badge is all about thinking about what you want to achieve, setting a goal and making it happen.


How to earn this badge:

  1. Choose one thing you’d like to change, improve or deliver for young people in your Troop or section, and make it happen.

This could be learning or teaching a new skill, developing your current talents or interests, or changing something about Scouts.

Plan

This badge is all about thinking creatively, working together, and planning some exciting activities for your programme


How to earn this badge:

Complete at least one of the following requirements. You should make your own decisions about which requirement(s) you'd like to achieve.

You could choose from the following options:

  1. Plan an event for your Scout group.
  2. Think of an idea that’ll help your Troop achieve a badge and share it in a Troop Forum.
  3. Plan a term of activities with your leader.
  4. Create a series of activities that help other Scouts to achieve a badge.

Lead

Now it's time to take the lead – think supporting others, delivering your programme and nights away. 


How to earn this badge:

Complete at least one of the following requirements. You should make your own decisions for which requirement(s) you'd like to achieve.

You could choose from the following options:

  1. Lead a session that shows older Cubs the best of Scouts.
  2. Lead a session for your Troop.
  3. Lead a Troop Forum for your section.
  4. Lead a one night camp with no adult volunteers. You’ll need a Nights Away Events Passport.

Represent

Think about how you’ll represent your group – you could engage your community, invite some friends to join the fun or chat to your Executive Committees.


How to earn this badge:

Complete at least one of the following requirements. You should make your own decisions for which requirement(s) you'd like to achieve.

You could choose from the following options:

  1. Talk with your Group or District Executive Committee about how Scouts could be improved in your group or District.
  2. Lead a Scouts activity for young people who aren’t involved in Scouts.
  3. Take part in a project with young people from across your group that uses skills you’ve learned at Scouts to help people in your community.
  4. Plan and deliver a Scouts activity for a local decision maker to take part in and show them why they should support Scouts in your area.
