CAMPING

Rushcliffe Scout Campsites

Hollygate & Stonepit

Hollygate - Cotgrave

Hollygate Scout Camp is one of two District sites in Rushcliffe. It is situated in beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside about 6km southeast of Nottingham. The site is a mixture of woodland and flat grassed camping areas that are suitable for all kinds of Scout (and Guide) camping. Facilities on the site are limited, we do not have a hall or kitchen, but we do have a very good quality toilet and shower block (with hot water). There are also a fridge, freezer, tumble dryer and microwave available for use by campers.

This is not a site with lots of organised activities but a base to do traditional outdoors Scouting combined with a location second to none. We do have a 6m climbing wall, a small assault course, some archery equipment, a stock of pioneering poles and a few ropes, and a simple orienteering course. We encourage wood fire cooking and have altar fires available for use around the site; we keep a well-stocked woodpile.

Stonepit - Gotham

Stonepit is our ‘back-to-basics’ campsite situated just outside the village of Gotham and has been in the district for more than 60 years! Camping here is all about self-sufficiency and ‘Being Prepared!’

There is no electricity or drinking water so get the scouts to plan properly and take everything they need for their adventure under the stars. Toilet facilities are limited and should be discussed with the Warden. The site does have a campfire circle, storm hut, camping field and altar-fire/BBQ cooking areas and is designated a Local Wildlife Site. In addition to people regularly booking the site for their own scouting activities, our district team often run a Forester Badge course, knife, axe and saw training courses and survival camps at Stonepit and can give help, advice and training to you on many other outdoor skills.

We’ll help you put the ‘OUT’ in Scouting!
